MOODBOARD #195:
Mit første håndsyede iPhone etui ¦ My first hand sewn iPhone sleeve

20140714-224121-81681205.jpg

Back in January, I thought that I was going to make my first iPhone sleeve – but then I came to sew some home-made “doodle and dream notebooks” in paper instead…

In the meantime, I have found a lot of beautiful vintage fabrics at a thrift store, including Laura Ashley fabrics from 1977 – and with my beautiful embroidery treasure, I now have a more subdued version in my thoughts than my previous moodboard

This sleeve I will sew by hand, and perhaps also make some embroideries on it – so I’m still able to sew in paper on my sewing machine…

I’m so excited to see how it will look like when it’s finished…

Lots of love and happiness, Susanne ♥

PS. I make short blog posts during the summer to live as much as possible in the moment – and away from the computer…

MOODBOARD #118:
Når datid og nutid smelter sammen ¦ When past and present merge

365 moodboards in 2014. Moodboard #118: Når datid og nutid smelter sammen. Gamle håndarbejdsmagasiner. Fotograf: Susanne Randers

♥ ALT for damernes Strikkebog sæson 1951-52

Blog post in English – and a photo from my Instagram:

When past and present merge

I love recycling – and love when I find a wonderful recycling treasure.

Today I got my hands in the most beautiful old needlework magazines:

  • ALT for damernes Strikkebog (ALL the ladies Knitting Book) season 1951-52
  • Flittige hænder (Diligent hands) No. 18 from 1939
  • Mønstertidende (Pattern Journal) No. 4 from 1938

Whimsical DIY inspiration – even to the present day

The magazines are filled with inspiration, fun, recipes, pictures, advertisements and the most beautiful illustrations.

When I look in them I see recipes and ideas that are ready to go for today – perhaps with a little adjustment. Crazy as time goes round in circles and all the old is modern again.

As if everything is invented – it just has to be merged and used in new contexts…

Looking forward to seriously dig in, be inspired and create something exciting.

Lots of love and happiness, Susanne

MOODBOARD #65:
Fra maleri til pimpet opslagstavle ¦ From painting to pimped pin board

365 moodboards i 2014. Moodboard #65: Fra maleri til pimpet opslagstavle Smashup. Fotograf: Susanne Randers

From painting to pimped pin board

I have been a volunteer today in Dan Church Social thrift store in Køge. We have made a creative studio in the middle of the shop where creative volunteers can check in and create products out of materials found in the recycling shop.

A mood board of a mood board

I chose today to make the most beautiful and super romantic pin board – which is a mood board itself.

365 mood boards in 2014. Mood board #65: Ta-dah: The final pin board made of recycled materials. Upcycling. Instagram filter Valencia. Photographer: Susanne Randers

[Upcycling: Pin board made of recycled materials. Ca. 70×50 cm. Made by Susanne Randers]

DIY: That’s how I did

I found an old painting, old maps and illustrations of flowers, grains and deers, crocheted doileys, fabric and embroidery and glued it all on the painting.

Afterwards I installed two neon pink strings horizontally on the painting, so you can use it as a pin board or message board. Either for small messages to yourself, or for the further development of the mood board…

Ideally it would look fantastic with smaller wooden clips, but today there was only the big ones available in the charity shop – and my mantra is:

“Take what you have and make the best of it…”

The pin board has been put for sale today in the charity shop for 300 DKK. I hope of course, that it is already sold tomorrow :)

Lots of love and happiness, Susanne
